One of the larger festivals on the island and happening outside the tourist season, the orange festival is a traditional local festival. Free to enter, go with a group of friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Always popular with locals and expats coming from all over the island to help celebrate the orange harvest.
If you find yourself in Greece during Easter expect something a little different. There’s very little chocolate in the shops and hardly any bunnies at all.
Easter here is a serious religious event with a week of events all centred around the church.
I’m an expat, I’ve got this, it’s what I do and what I enjoy. Being uncomfortable, not knowing where things are any how things work on a basic level is what makes me tick.
Everything has all gone a bit Durrell in recent months on the Facebook page, “Looking forward to a little bit of the ‘Durrell’ life” is what ‘S’ said when she volunteered to drop everything and come to the island. The first guest post from ‘S’ a wonderful friend who is house and pet sitting for us on the island of Rhodes.
More than just a flight from Rhodes to Istanbul this is an experience and a journey. I’m going for 4 months leaving behind family and friends, pets and a home. I’m going to work and explore, enjoy the next few months and share them with you.
