Christmas on Rhodes – Elpida’s Ranch
Christmas on Rhodes is very different to Christmas we’ve experienced anywhere else in the world. This year I’m going share daily images and a glimpse into what it’s like to be on a Greek island at Christmas.

Since moving to Rhodes I’ve been lucky to have the time and ability to experience the romance the island has to offer and have shared much of it on the blog. It’s a place that attracts such a variety of visitors who return every year. An island that has a way of getting under your skin.
Join us on a wander around the medieval walled city of Rhodes and find some of the cats we discovered on our walk.
I’ve visited Turkey a few times now. The first time just after my 21st birthday in November 1989 when I went on my first solo overseas trip. 4 years ago I went with a group of girlfriends to Marmaris and more recently on a fabulous girls weekend away in Fethiye. Some things have changed over the years and some have stayed the same. Here’s my 10 top tips for girls visiting Turkey today.
Looking for a girls weekend away? They are after all essential for our sanity and our husbands we headed to Fethiye in the Muğla province of Turkey. With lots to do and see this is the first in a series of posts about Turkey.
The island of Rhodes has lots of well known tourist spots but there’s also a lot that’s undiscovered by the main summer tourist crowds. Away from the main resorts there’s a very different island to be found. Beautiful places that haven’t changed for decades, where you’ll receive a warm welcome in local tavernas with real Greek food. Discover beaches where you won’t be falling over people to get to the clear blue waters. Find hidden camping spots and beautiful walks.
Meet some travel bloggers today and find out what they have to say about Generation X. A small but powerful generation that’s now at its peak, ranging in age from late 30’s to late 50’s. Some say we are the silent generation but we’ve very much come of age.
There’s a lot more to Lindos that the Acropolis and beautiful beaches. Every year on Father’s day the village holds a medieval festival. Jugglers, musicians, kings and queens parade through torchlit narrow alley ways. Enjoy a night of medieval entertainment.
Patmos has beautiful beaches, traditional white house on a hillside and great food, but there is also more to this small island. Known as ‘The island of the Apocalypse’ and the ‘Jerusalem of the Aegean’ has been drawing pilgrims from around the Christian world for centuries.
Patmos is a small island of just 45km is the northernmost of the Dodecanese chain. It’s shaped a like a complex jigsaw piece which means that around every corner there is another cove and another wonderful beach. The island is roughly split in two with Skala the main port in the centre, from the top of the monastery you can see the whole island.
4 years ago we checked in lots of suitcases and 3 cats at Doha airport and began our Greek adventure. We had no idea how long the adventure would last. We thought maybe a year and then we’d be moving on. But, 4 years later and one more house move, we’re still here.
If you’ve been following us on social media you’ll know that recently we headed off to discover the island of Patmos. The blog has been a member of Travel Bloggers of Greece for 2 years now and this was our first FAM trip with the organisation.
