We have reached the 6 year point in our Greek island adventure. I can’t quite believe it’s been 6 years since we stepped off a plane with 3 cats in tow. Now here is a chance to celebrate with us.
The cats Alsan, Impi and Chui are enjoying their Greek village life as much as we do and to celebrate JORD watches have sent me the gift of one of their beautiful watches. You can celebrate with use us as JORD are giving all readers of Olive, Feta & Ouzo a chance to win $100 towards a wood watch.
Time here moves at a different pace to other places we have lived. It’s langourous, the world has a different set of priorities. Made of olive wood with an Aegean blue face the Cassia watch is a perfect accessory for Greek island living. It arrived just in time for my summer job as a wedding planner where making sure people are on time is a very important part of my role.
Living on a Greek island you don’t have the same bombardment from advertising and everyone is a little less materialistic. I have seen and admired the Jord watches for a while across social media and was really excited when they offered to send us one. The wood finish is really beautiful it’s a piece of jewellery as well as a watch. What I didn’t expect is that the olive wood means that the watch is remarkably light to wear.
Life here means doing things slightly differently. We try to be more aware of our environment. The heat in summer and high humidity in winter can be very damaging to our wood furniture. So I treat it regularly with my homemade polish of an olive oil mix. The JORD watch came with it’s own little bottle of oil to treat the wood and keep it in good condition.
Those that choose to live here also choose to live differently. It’s very much a make-do-and-mend society where a lot less is thrown away and things get mended. A watch that uses natural material like wood fits with that ethos better in my world. I found out they have lots of different styles and finishes to choose from for both men and women. Hand-crafted and beautifully designed. From self winding with crystals to straps for your Apple Watch there is something for everyone we know.
Those who know me know that I’m a little bit of a hippy at heart, making and growing things and sharing my recipes with you all. Today I delivered a batch of my mango chutney to Pefkos and this May I learned how to prepare and preserve the capari plant to add to our Greek salads all summer long as the locals do. A little bit bohemian the Cassia watch fits my style perfectly. The company values of ‘sustainability, efficiency and experiential living’ fit with the life we have been trying to live here.
