Inspiration for this week’s quote comes from time. It’s the one commodity in our lives that we often waste without thought.
We’ve been lucky to be able to live here for the last 2 years and that time has certainly gone past quickly. That’s time we’ve been able to spend with my parents who both have birthdays this week. I’m sure my father won’t mind if I tell you he’ll be 74. The time we get to spend with them, at this time of their lives, is really precious.
Our time here is measure in chunks of 5 weeks. 5 weeks that my husband is away at work. 5 weeks that he is home. Today marks the halfway mark he’ll be back in 2 1/2 weeks. It’s a strange feeling at this time, I miss him and wish he was here but am also excited that he’ll soon be back. Of course I would love it if he didn’t have to go away but we have more time together because of it.
This week marks our 5th wedding anniversary and the traditional gift is wood. When he returns we will plant a tree in the garden to create a shady spot for the future.
There are many quotes about time, it really is the most precious commodity we have because for all of us one day that time will run out. This weekend I lost a dear friend after a long illness. It’s always hard when someone is taken from us like that, but I’m thankful for the time she got to spend with her family over the last couple of years since returning home from overseas.
Her passing has served as a reminder to me just how precious the time we have with our families is. Maike travelled the world with her husband Rob and had a wonderful life. Rob wrote on her Facebook wall:
What ever your plans this week make the most of those precious moments of time and enjoy the adventures that come your way.
